Plumber is an oft used umbrella term but plumbing today embraces a multitude of talents and often provides a springboard to other trades (such as Renewables and Gas). It is one of the reasons plumbers are in such high demand.

Level 2

Plumbing Intermediate Level – Theory modules leading to:

  •  Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Domestic Heating
  • Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999
  •  Practical training relating to plumbing and domestic heating; components, installation and maintenance
  •  Assessments in compliance with 6035 Level 2 knowledge units:
  • Unit 201 Health and Safety
  • Unit 202 Electrical Principles and Processes in BSE
  • Unit 203 Scientific Principles in Plumbing
  • Unit 204 Common Plumbing Processes
  • Unit 205 Cold Water Systems
  • Unit 206 Domestic Hot Water Systems
  • Unit 208 Central Heating Systems
  • Unit 209 Drainage Systems
  • Unit 210 Understand how to Communicate with Others in BSE
  •  Basic electrical principles relating to heating system components including pre-work checks and lawful limitations
  • 1999 Water Regulations assessment

Level 3

Plumbing Advanced Level – Theory modules leading to:

  •  Part P Defined Scope electrical qualification
  •  NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Domestic Plumbing and Heating
  •  Domestic Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems Certificate
  •  Practical training relating to plumbing and domestic heating; components, installation and maintenance
  •  Assessments in compliance with 6035 Level 3 knowledge units:
  • Unit 301 Understand the Fundamental Principles and Requirements of Environmental Technology Systems
  • Unit 302 Plumbing system installation planning
  • Unit 303 Complex cold water systems
  • Unit 304 Domestic hot water
  • Unit 305 Sanitation and drainage systems
  • Unit 306 Central heating systems
  • Unit 308 Career awareness in building services engineering
  • Unit 309 Domestic gas principles
  •  Part P Defined Scope qualification
  •  Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems (Vented and Unvented)
